The most common type of acne is the whitehead which is caused when the sebum or oil, dead skin cells and bacteria are completely trapped inside a blocked pore. The black colored head is caused by the reaction of melanin with oxygen. Blackheads remain for a longer period of time unlike the whiteheads. These are the two commonly known types of acne and there are other types of acne besides these two types.
When the acne pimples are in the form of small, tender boils with no head then it is all called papules. Unlike the whiteheads you must not pop open the papules by yourself as it will create deeper scars on your face.
When the acne is inflamed and reaches a state whereby it has a white or yellow center then it is called pustules and you should be very careful while popping the pustule because if it is not done properly it can lead to ugly scars on your face.
If you have nodules which is one of the most serious forms of acne then you may have to consult a dermatologist and this type of acne is can be painful as well. Nodules cause larger lesions and scars. It requires right treatment and medical attention so that the scarring is either totally prevented or at least minimized.
